“Eric Carle was born in Syracuse, New York, in 1929. He moved with his parents to Germany when he
was six years old; he was educated there, and graduated from the prestigious
art school, the Akademie der bildenden Künste, in Stuttgart.
When he was 23 years old, he went back to the U.S.A and started his career
as a graphic designer at the New York Times. Some years later, he was invited to illustrate
a children’s story called Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?, written
by educator Bill Martin Jr., and that’s when Eric’s true career as an illustrator and author of children's literature began. He uses a collage
technique with painted papers which are cut to form bright and cheerful
images. Eric’s stories usually share his
love for nature and a great respect for kid’s creativity, feelings and intellectual
growth.” Eric died in May 2021 at the age of 91. (Source: author's website)
“Todd Parr was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in 1962. Before becoming a full-time author and
illustrator of books for children, he used to work as a flight attendant. Todd
has published more than 50 books using vibrant and colorful images to inspire
children around the world with simple, hopeful and powerful messages such as ‘be
kind’, ‘love yourself’ and ‘be who you are’.
He also supports philanthropic causes like pet adoption and children’s
hunger, health and literacy. Todd enjoys
cooking and sharing recipes with his fans!
He lives nowadays in Berkeley, California, with his three adopted pit
bulls.” (Source: author's website)
